Sleep with your dogs or cats? Suggestions you must know

Have you ever been sleeping with your beloved dog or cat? I think you do.

While winter is coming, it’s an excellent idea to sleep with pets since they are walking heaters. Not only for you, but there are many benefits for pets themselves to sleep with owners, such as reducing separation anxiety, promoting feelings, or improving sleep quality.

Obviously, everything is two-sided. You may consider the following shortcomings while you are planning to sleep with your dog or cat.

1、BACTERIAL INFECTION

As you know, dogs and cats like to play around the house, such as cat litters, dog litters, litter boxes, dog toilets, leading them easily to be infected with bacteria. While you’re in the same bed, the bacteria and parasites maybe infect you, causing both of you to suffer from zoonosis.

2、DEVELOP THE BAD HABIT OF CLIMBING BEDS

It’s all right to sleep with pets occasionally. However, in the long term, it will make dogs or cats develop the habit of climbing beds. They will climb the bed more arbitrarily, don’t caring whether they are dirty or not. The mud or other dirty items carried by them would easily fall on the bed.

3、SKIN SENSIBILITY

If your skin is allergic, you must be careful! Sleeping with pets means getting closer to them, and they carry lots of bacteria. In contact with pets, you may be prone to allergies and rashes even if they have been bathed many times.

4、MORE ARROGANT BEHAVIOR

Trust me, any pet lover can’t stand the pitiful eyes, especially when the cold winter comes and they desperately need a warm bed. Sleeping with them is a good choice. But how long are you going to last? One month, two months, or one year? It’s no doubt that they will be your boss in the long run. And they will treat the pet owner improperly with a more domineering personality and more arrogant behavior.

5、RESPIRATORY DISEASE

The hair of pets is not friendly to the human respiratory tract. If you sleep with your pets frequently, the hair will easily enter the respiratory tract, leading to respiratory diseases.
When your pet is in the hair removal period, don’t sleep with them. The best way is to comb their fallen hair with a hair remover brush, bathe them, and keep their bodies clean.

If you really can’t bear to leave your pet friend alone in the cold night, before you fall asleep together, here are some suggestions.

SUGGESTION ONE: KEEP CLEAN

Sleeping with pets will inevitably bring their hair, dust, saliva, and bacteria to the bed. The most effective way is to keep the bed clean at all times, here are some tips.

  • Change sheets and quilt covers more frequently
  • Bathe your pets before going to bed
  • Disinfecting pets’ blankets, toilets, and other pet supplies.

SUGGESTION TWO: CARE FOR PETS’ SAFETY

If your beloved pet is relatively large, there is no need to worry about their sleeping safety. However, if it is a puppy or kitten, you need to be careful since it’s easy to overwhelm them when you are turning over in sleep. They may play with you before going to bed. Be careful not to let them fall out of bed and get hurt.

SUGGESTION THREE: DON’T FORGET TO DEWORM

Before letting your pets go to your bed, you should make sure that they are free from any diseases. All necessary vaccines for pets should be vaccinated regularly, and regular deworming work in vivo and vitro should be done since most parasites are easy to transmit to humans.

Hoping you and your pets have a pleasant sleep trip~
